2008 Surf City Run 5K
The Surf City Run is the annual kick-off to a full day of activities for the City of Huntington Beach's Fourth of July Celebration. Enjoy a fun and fast 5K course, then stay for the famous
July Fourth Fireworks show held off the beaches of Huntington Beach over the Pacific Ocean. The race will begin promptly at 7:00 am with the Residents Run and finish with the ever popular Kids Run.

Race Features
Residents Division 5K Run/Walk, presented by Mother's Market, exclusively for residents of Huntington Beach.
Popular Thomas Kemper Soda Kids Run (all finishers receive a medal. Kids runs are NOT timed)
Fitness Expo, presented by Clif Bar will feature music, food, games and the latest in health and fitness

Race Course
All races will start and finish at Huntington Beach High School on the corner of 17th Street and Main Street.
SURF CITY RUN FITNESS EXPO

The Surf City Run Fitness Expo will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for the enjoyment of runners and their families. Enjoy a variety of food, entertainment,and music, and view some of the latest in health and fitness.
Entertainment will be provided by local surf band favorite - The Breakaways.
Thomas Kemper Soda Kids Run
Bring the entire family and enter the kids in the very popular Kids Run. Kids 6 and under will run .5 miles and 7-12 will run 1 mile. All kids receive an official race t-shirt, race goodie bag and finish medal! (kids runs are not timed).

Directions to the Race
All races will start and finish at Huntington Beach High School on the corner of 17th Street and Main Street.
Directions: From the 405 take the Goldenwest Street exit. Travel South on Goldenwest to Palm. Turn left on Palm and left on 17th Street to Main Street.


Awards
All Divisions: Awards for both the residents and open 5K will be presented to the overall male and female winners and the top three male and female finishers in each age group. The top three male and female finishers in the Stroller Division will also receive awards. All Kid's Run finishers will receive a finisher medal. The Thomas Kemper Soda Kids Run will not be timed.

Photos
The professional event photography company, Brightroom, Inc. will be photographing the Surf City Run. These high quality digital images will be available online from Brightroom directly.
Charity
The Surf City Run benefits the Huntington Beach Jr. Lifeguard program. The Jr. Lifeguards will provide the volunteers along the course and will benefit from the run helping them to raise money for their program, special trips and outreach to the community.

Rules and Regulations
Athletes who participate in this competition may be subject to formal drug testing in accordance with USA Track & Field Regulations 10 and IAAF Rule 55. Athletes found positive for banned substances, or who refuse to be tested, will be disqualified from this event and lose eligibility for future competitions. Some over-the-counter medications contain banned substances. Information regarding drugs and drug testing may be obtained by calling the USOC hot line at 800-233-0393.
